Welcome to this blog type thread on the writing of this year's panto! Firstly, a bit about how this came to fruition! As you might be aware I have been heavily involved in writing two of our previous pantomimes, namely Flash Gordon and Tarzan. It was in the pub just after Tarzan that I was asked what my next one would be. As we had  already been in space and in the jungle I decided that the next story would take place on a farm. With this idea in place, Old Macdonald was the natural progression.

I did figure that it would be a while before this pantomime would ever need to be written but a combination of not finding a play to produce for this season and the liklihood that we wouldn't have a specific children's show at Christmas prompted me to get out my quill!

At the time of writing this I have a basic story, and a very rough breakdown of the scenes in each act. A couple of teasers now, the comic baddie halfwits are called Sam and Ella  and the Dame has the same name of someone from Scottish History. Please feel free to contribute to this thread, if you have any questions or even suggestions for the panto.

Only 296 days until curtain up.....

The first draft of the first scene has been written. It features the phrase chicken vindaloo!

Scene two which introduces the baddie has been written. Half way through scene three which brings on the dame. One of the characters is de-briefed in this scene!

You know the bit in Rocky where he runs up the steps and stands at the top?  I've done that on those steps!  They are at the Museum of Art in Philadelphia.

Does this qualify me for a place in the panto??

Not automatically Hilary, but all bribes greatfully accepted!!! The first two scenes of Act 2 are now written and features the Stone of Destiny. Humour and history in one production!
