Take a trip back in time to Wednesday 3rd February 1959, a date which will live in music history for ever, and the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. The Winter Dance Party featuring Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens is just ending and the boys leave for that fateful flight on “the day the music died”.

With their pilot, Roger Peterson, they find themselves at the Celestial Soda Fountain in the company of the mysterious barmaid, Stella. Soon the truth becomes all too clear: each of the boys has some unfinished business to address within themselves before the path to eternity is complete.

Featuring over 20 fabulous fifties sounds such as Peggy Sue, La Bamba, C’mon Everybody, Your Cheating Heart, That’ll Be The Day and Oh Boy, “Heaven Can Wait” is a night that will truly stay with the audience forever.

MAYHEM & MADNESS AT THE ABBEY THEATRE...

The ladies of the Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society, along with some fellas, are taking part in the first round of the Townswomen's Guild Drama Festival Area Finals.

Not everything goes according to plan, in fact very little is as rehearsed but they continue undaunted much to the amusement of the audience and the amazement of the adjudicator who is quite a turn in himself.

Anyone who has seen one of the ladies' productions before will know what a treat they are in for.

The original version was first presented in 1976 at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. This revised version was then presented at the fringe in 1983 with both playwrights taking part.

All is not as it seems in the Abbey Theatre ...

In the remote Villa Romana, all is not as it seems. For Kate, Martin, Derek and Angela it will be a night they will never forget. Employed to act out a stage show for a mysterious man, whom none of them has met, the actors start asking questions when one by one they die in suspicious circumstances.

But who is responsible, is there a murderer in the old Italian house hiding somewhere, or could it be one of them? Increasingly, they begin to suspect each other. Who could it be? And why were they murdered?

These are some of the questions answered as this captivating thriller, "DEAD MAN'S HAND" by Seymour Matthews, unravels. They wonder to themselves If there is a reason they haven't thought of for the deaths, which envelopes all of those involved? But does each know more than they are telling?

It is not until the end that we discover an intriguing twist in the story which reveals the real reason for the whole night's charade.'
